ABOUT
OUR MISSION
The American Academy of Physical Therapy (AAPT) is a not for profit organization whose mission is to provide relief to poor and disadvantaged African-Americans and other minorities by:
Promoting new and innovative programs in health promotion, health delivery systems and disease prevention,
Encouraging minority students to pursue careers in allied health professions, and
Performing clinical research directly related to health conditions found within minority communities.
OUR HISTORY
The American Academy of Physical Therapy (AAPT) was established on September 16, 1989 in Chicago, Illinois to address the needs of minorities in the field of Physical Therapy and those seeking to make change.
Today, the group is comprised of Practitioners, Inventors, Research Pioneers, Academicians, Community Activists, and Legislators within their respective professions. Our primary goal today is to provide support for students interested in pursuing health professions so that they have the ability one day to provide care to underserved communities.
We also aim to increase and prepare more minority professionals in our field to adequately serve the changing demographics in America. If you want to become part of this great organization and join our noble cause, please go to our Membership page.
